After having the ECU tuned on my 2016 Yamaha XSR900 fitted with a Yoshimura R77, I noticed a significantly smoother ride; the characteristic CP3 jerking was markedly reduced, and backfiring now only occurs when lifting off the throttle and using the Quickshifter – the bike’s behaviour is now considerably more refined and mature.
Power has increased from 117 hp to 127 hp, torque from 83 Nm to 90 Nm, and, most importantly, the power curve has shifted 500 rpm further – so the bike starts to run out of steam later. Overall, both power and torque are 10 per cent better across the entire rev range.
Stability has improved, engine braking is much more pleasant, the sound is richer, and there’s no longer any overheating due to a lean mixture. It’s a difference that’s very much about the feel, but it’s very noticeable – I feel much more confident on the motorbike and don’t get kicked by it like I used to.
I’d like to thank Michal and Marek for their excellent, professional work on my motorbike, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. This is proper tuning on the dynamometer, not just uploading generic software to the ECU. After your first ride, you’ll immediately understand why it costs more than the competition, and you won’t regret a single crown.
